Gray paces women’s cross country at NAC Championship
The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women’s cross-country team competed in the North Atlantic Conference Championship hosted by Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Saturday morning. The Badgers finished 6th overall.
The Badgers were led by Jaden Gray who finished 15th overall with a time of 25:38. With the top 15 finish Gray was named to the North Atlantic Conference Second Team. Jacqueline McCullough finished with a time of 27:53. Senior Emily Cass was the third finisher for the Badgers in the final race of her career. Cass completed the race in 29:34. Rounding out the lineup for NVU-Johnson was Juniors Nicole Mooney and Laura Datillio. Mooney completed the race in 34:40 and Datillio.
The top fifteen runners receive All-Conference honors, with the top eight on the First Team and the next seven runners on the Second Team. Complete All-Conference honors will be announced on Wednesday, November 6th.
Women’s volleyball cruise past Delhi
The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women’s volleyball team captured a win in straight sets over conference rival SUNY Delhi on Senior Day in Carter Gymnasium.
The Badgers captured the win by a score of 3-0 winning by scores of 26-24, 25-22, 25-17.
Lauren Havill had a strong performance and led the Badgers with 12 kills and seven digs. Senior Nikola Knapova and Freshman Porsche Johnson added eight kills apiece for the Badgers. Knapova added a match high 15 digs. Ashley Emery rounded out the Badger top performers with four kills and seven digs.
In set one it was back and forth and with the scored tied at 23, a service error from Emory put the Broncos up by one. Havill stepped up and earned two kills to give the Badgers the advantage and a kill from Johnson sealed the win in set one for NVU-Johnson.
The Badgers held the lead throughout the second set. Three straight service aces from Havill closed the set by a score of 25-22. In the third and final set it was the Badgers who remained in control and closed the match by a score of 25-17.
Taylor Tsatsis led the Broncos with five kills.
Men’s XC finishes eighth at NAC Championship
The Northern Vermont University-Johnson men’s cross-country team competed in the North Atlantic Conference Championship hosted by Northern Vermont University-Lyndon on Saturday morning.
The Badgers were led by sophomore Lawson Ouellette who finished 44th overall with a time of 36:21. Ouellette has been the top finisher for the majority of the season and paced the Badgers on the men’s side throughout the championship. Sheldon Billings finished with a time of 40:48 and senior Cole Shebak followed with a time of 42:26. Andrew Westphal completed the race in 46:53 and Demond Vicks and Sam Stephens rounded out the Badger lineup.
Aiden Berlinski of SUNY Delhi earned medalist honors finishing the race with a time of 28:51.
