Badger Briefs: First half run halts women’s soccer on the road

The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women’s soccer team dropped a North Atlantic Conference game on the road to Husson University on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-2.

1st Half: It was the Husson Eagles who made an immediate impact on Saturday in the first stint of action. Bri Saulter started the Eagles off early scoring in the 2nd minute. Mackenzie St. Pierre scored back to back goals in the 4th and 5th minute to advance the lead to 3-0. Jaley Martin scored the final goal of the half and her first of the game in the 40thminute.

2nd Half: Dezaire Youngman opened up play for the Badgers scoring NVU-Johnson’s first goal of the contest in the 68th minute. Martin continued to be impressive for the Eagles as she netted her second goal of the game off an assist from teammate Jordan Hernanez. Jordan Pelland recorded a goal of her own in the 78th minute off an assist from Andrea Mercer. Martin closed the game with her third and final goal earning the hat trick in the 80th minute of play.

With the loss women’s soccer drops to 0-13 on the year with a record of 0-7 in NAC play.
