Women’s track and field concludes season at Regis College
The Northern Vermont University-Johnson women’s track and field team competed at the North Atlantic Conference Track and Field championship hosted at Regis College on April 27 and 28. The Badgers finished in fifth place with 18 points. The Great Northeast Atlantic Conference (GNAC) and New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) also participated in the multi-conference championship event.
On Saturday, three Badgers competed in the javelin throw. Senior Mariah Ramos (Lebanon, N.H.) led the Badgers by placing fourth, throwing 24.15 meters in the event to earn four points for the Badgers. Ellery Kiefer (Wayland, Ma.) and Melissaann Clark (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished in sixth and eighth, throwing 24.07 meters and 22.80 meters.
On Sunday, sophomore Jaden Gray (Clinton, Me.) led the Badgers with a fourth-place finish in the 800 meter run, completing the race in 2:41.65 to earn four points. Brooke Scheier (Milford, N.J.) placed fifth in women’s triple jump to earn two points for Johnson, recording a distance of 8.84 meters. Scheier followed with an 11th place finish in women’s long jump with a distance of 3.88 meters.
In the 1500 meter run, Emily Cass (Braintree, Vt.) and Jocelyn Pellerin (Keene, N.H.) raced to eighth and ninth place finishes, clocking in at 6:44.25 and 6:57.22. In the 200 meter dash, Kimberly Cotignola (St. Albans, Vt.) finished 14th (35.68) and Calleen Ferris (Fairfax, Vt.) followed in 16th (28.19). Kiefer recorded a distance of 9.04 meters in women’s shot put to finish eighth in the event. Ramos rounded out the weekend for the Badgers with an eighth place finish in women’s discus, tallying a distance of 25.43 meters.
