OctSOBERfest Rail Jam draws VSC crowd
Johnson State Recreation and the JSC Snowboard Club hosted the annual OctSOBERfest Rail Jam on the campus quad, Thursday, October 22nd from 6:00-9:00pm. The event was a part of Johnson State’s Alcohol Awareness Week being held from October 21st through October 25th.
Johnson’s campus quad was illuminated by large spot lights highlighting two drop-ins fit with a rail to grind and a box to jib. Snow for the event was collected and trucked in from local ice skating rinks by student organizers.
The rail jam saw 26 participants with an additional 50 spectators. Johnson State and Lyndon State students crowded around the park features to cheer on participants and local ski resorts, Jay Peak and Smugglers Notch were both present at the event selling season passes and giving away prizes.
